Here's a breakdown of the steps involved to become a Raven Driving School instructor:

​

1. Meet the Prerequisites:

​

  • Hold a full UK driving licence for at least 3 years.

  • Be over 21 years old.

  • Have a clean driving record.

  • Pass a DBS check. 

​

2. Register with the DVSA:

​

  • Apply to become an approved driving instructor (ADI).

  • Agree to the responsibilities outlined in the ADI register guide. 

​

3. Pass the Qualifying Exams:

​

  • Part 1: Theory test, (£81 per test) covering road safety, traffic signs, and teaching techniques.

  • We can offer a short training course with full support to help you pass with ease:

  • This costs around £20 per hour and will be conducted online to fit around your work schedule.

​

  • Part 2: Practical driving ability test, (£111 per test) assessing your driving skills and ability to perform manoeuvres. 

  • We can offer a short training course with full support to help you pass with ease:

  • This costs around £45 per hour and will be conducted one to one.

  • We would suggest around 10 hours training with us but this is entirely up to you!

​

  • Part 3: Instructional ability test, (£111 per test) where you'll demonstrate your ability to teach driving to a pupil.

  • You are required to complete 40 hours of training to meet DVSA standards before you can take your final exam. 

  • We can arrange this for you with one of our approved Raven Driving School ADI's.

  • This costs around £45 per hour, this can be paid as you learn!

4. Consider Trainee Licence (Optional):

​

  • After passing Part 2, you can apply for a trainee licence to gain practical experience by teaching under supervision. Apply for your PDI CERTIFICATE (BADGE): £140. 

  • You will on average earn around £15,000 in those 6 months (6 months is the maximum length of time you can hold a PDI license).

5. Register as an Approved Driving Instructor:

​​

  • Once you've passed all three exams, you can register as an ADI. 

  • You'll need to pay a registration fee. 

  • You'll also need to re-register every four years, which involves another fee. 

​​

6. Ongoing Requirements:

​​

  • We DO NOT provide you car! You can use any car that meets DVSA standards and passes a valid MOT test.

  • This must have driving instructor insurance (average) £100 per month.

  • You must have dual control fitted in your vehicle (average) £700.

  • You must have a valid tax.

  • You will need to pay for repairs on your car. 

  • You will need to maintain your professional standards and potentially undergo further training. 

  • Apply for your ADI CERTIFICATE (BADGE): £300

    • Uniform: We will issue you x 3 shirts with your Raven logo.

    • Website: We will be adding your very own profile to our website.

    • Communication: We will set you up your very own WhatsApp group for you and your students and your very own phone system link.

    • Support: Access to our websites Q-Cards and Videos for additional support, as well as 24/7 phone and email support!

    • Designated area: We do not believe in over crowding areas, you will be assigned your own area by postcode!

    • Car signage: We will provide you with 2 x magnetic car signs with the Raven logo, 2 x magnetic 'L' plate signs, and a magnetic boot warning sign for drivers following you. additional car signage can be purchased at your own discretion.

    • Diary: You will issued your very own automated diary system which will have backing support from your senior ADI's.

    • Advertising: You will be issued 100 x customised business cards to help promote you!

    • Theory test training to your students: We will issue access to our very own theory test training suite, this can be used to help train your students and earn you additional income.

See! The process is simple and you will receive full support from your senior throughout your training and on-going support from the entire team at  Raven Driving School.

If you are already an ADI then you can apply to become a Raven instructor and pay only £60 per week to be part of the team and the perks are incredible!
